Friends in Kentucky

Last week was spent at some dear friends of ours in eastern Kentucky. The Caudill's graciously lined up six concerts for us, but do to the weather we were not able to sing nearly as much as we wanted to.
When we arrived on Sunday night there was not a bit of snow on the ground. But coming Monday morning, we all woke up to a winter wonderland of beautiful snow.
We ended up getting around 12 inches of fluffy powder, leaving us stuck at Doug and Lydia's house for good.
So instead of singing, we used the time to get to know their family better.
We had great talks, food, and fellowship, plus we played lots of card and board games!

One day the weather was warm enough that we decided it would be fun to go outside and build some snow forts and have a snow fight.

Snow fights!

One of their neighbors came by with a small tractor and dug us out.

But through it all, God was good!
Toward the end of the week the weather cleared up enough for us to get three of those concerts in.
We got to sing at a nursing home, a mission, and a church.

Afterwards we ate lunch and enjoyed a couple pies.

Yummy!

Sunday morning we sang at a little church about five minutes away from the house we were staying at. After the morning service we hopped in our vehicle and were on our way to another church for an afternoon service.
It was around one o'clock and we were around five miles from our destination when we passed by a car on a very narrow road and slid into a very steep ditch.
The ditch doesn't look bad from the pictures, but believe me when I say that that ditch was deep and full of muddy snowy slush. We were stuck for good!

How did we manage to get ourselves in this situation?

Oh no!

A local tow truck was able to come and give us a hand.

In the meantime, these two little kiddos, plus a few of us girls, stayed inside where it was nice and warm.
Obviously by the looks of this little guy's hair, we had a little too much fun for the occasion.

This little girl begged me to take pictures of her, which I heartily agreed to do.

Jacking up the rig so that we could move the tires onto solid ground.

Yay! We are safe! After 2 1/2 long hours, they got it onto pavement.

This was the ditch that we got stuck in.
Thankfully the damage on the RV was very minor. But we were too late for our 2 o'clock concert.
By the time we got out of the ditch it was after 4 o'clock.
We're not sure why God allowed us to have this little accident and deny us the opportunity to sing that afternoon, but we know that He did have a purpose in it, even though we can't see it at the time.

That same evening was our last night at our friends house, so we decided to stay up late and enjoy their company.

Playing games and eating popcorn...

I took this picture 3 hours before we actually went to bed.

"And we know that all things work together for good to them who love God,
to them who are the called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:28
