Itasca Music Festival

Once again our family attended the Itasca Family Music Festival this year.
We all had a fun time! Listening to music, watching the Kids Storybook, singing a few songs on a side stage, plus playing lots of volleyball, soccer and ulitmate frisbee.

As usual, there were lots of people there...

Listening...

Matthew had the privilege of helping out with the skit this year.
The story was based on Johann Sabastian Bach.

"Oh sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the the LORD, all the earth."

"Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people."
Psalm 96:1-3

We Are Still Alive!

Man! I can't believe it's been almost three whole months since we've posted last! I'm really sorry everyone!
I guess the main reason we haven't been bloging lately would probably be because there hasn't been a whole lot of activity going on around our place. With Laurissa and Miranda working at the neighbor's farm most of the day, and Matthew working down in Nebraska, it leaves the rest of us with a pretty empty house.
So with that said, I will post the "few" pictures that I managed to take.

Way back on Memorials day, we had our house full of family and friends for a fun day of games, good food and conversation.
And yes, Matthew was able to come up and spend the weekend with us. It was such a treat!

Pizza!!!

Nut Goodie Bars have been a family tradition and favorite all the way back since the day I could remember.

A new favorite of ours, Dominion.

Spoons!

And then there was two!

There are occasionally days here and there when the four of us girls are home the majority of the day. On days such as those we usually spend the time outside catching up on weeding, mowing, and all the other chores that go along with it.

Since the numbers in our family have been shrinking this year, so has our garden shrunk from the normal size that we usailly plant it.

Laundry on the line...

Daddy hard at work, working on one of his projects.

Our little tree house needed a bit of fixing.

That's all for now folks! Hopefully it won't be three months before I post again... (sigh)

It's Been Awhile...

It has now been a complete month since our Motorhome rolled into the familier sight of home sweet home. The first few days after we got back were pretty crazy! There was lots of trips made from the motorhome and then into the house, putting all the things in their right places, laundry, dishes, and the list goes on...
Shortly after we arrived home we started working on our third cd project. As much as we would love to record in a studio, we decided to once again do the recording at home. I haven't got any pictures, but the project is not finished yet so hopefully we will have some of that.
Two weeks ago, we had the privilege of having a good friend from Texas stay with us for a 10 day visit. We had a great time! Here are just a few pics of the things we did while she was here.

Saturday we played some volley-ball with some friends.

Later, we had fun cleaning up our little woods.
Here is our friend Kris, taking armloads of branches to the burning pile.

Laurissa, trying her best to uproot a tree. :)

The team!

::::::::::::::

One day, we had a little party for Naomi's 17th birthday and invited some friends over to celebrate.

Naomi, Johanna Martin, and Kris.

The menu was pizza, salad, chips, fizzy juice and trifle.

Laurissa made two amazing trifle dishes for dessert!

Conversation at the table...

and in the living room...

Last of all, but surely not the least, we played some games of spoons, fishbowl, and scatagories.
It was a fun and blessed night!

Friends in Kentucky

Last week was spent at some dear friends of ours in eastern Kentucky. The Caudill's graciously lined up six concerts for us, but do to the weather we were not able to sing nearly as much as we wanted to.
When we arrived on Sunday night there was not a bit of snow on the ground. But coming Monday morning, we all woke up to a winter wonderland of beautiful snow.
We ended up getting around 12 inches of fluffy powder, leaving us stuck at Doug and Lydia's house for good.
So instead of singing, we used the time to get to know their family better.
We had great talks, food, and fellowship, plus we played lots of card and board games!

One day the weather was warm enough that we decided it would be fun to go outside and build some snow forts and have a snow fight.

One of their neighbors came by with a small tractor and dug us out.

But through it all, God was good!
Toward the end of the week the weather cleared up enough for us to get three of those concerts in.
We got to sing at a nursing home, a mission, and a church.

Afterwards we ate lunch and enjoyed a couple pies.

Yummy!

Sunday morning we sang at a little church about five minutes away from the house we were staying at. After the morning service we hopped in our vehicle and were on our way to another church for an afternoon service.
It was around one o'clock and we were around five miles from our destination when we passed by a car on a very narrow road and slid into a very steep ditch.
The ditch doesn't look bad from the pictures, but believe me when I say that that ditch was deep and full of muddy snowy slush. We were stuck for good!

How did we manage to get ourselves in this situation?

Oh no!

A local tow truck was able to come and give us a hand.

In the meantime, these two little kiddos, plus a few of us girls, stayed inside where it was nice and warm.
Obviously by the looks of this little guy's hair, we had a little too much fun for the occasion.

This little girl begged me to take pictures of her, which I heartily agreed to do.

Jacking up the rig so that we could move the tires onto solid ground.

Yay! We are safe! After 2 1/2 long hours, they got it onto pavement.

This was the ditch that we got stuck in.
Thankfully the damage on the RV was very minor. But we were too late for our 2 o'clock concert.
By the time we got out of the ditch it was after 4 o'clock.
We're not sure why God allowed us to have this little accident and deny us the opportunity to sing that afternoon, but we know that He did have a purpose in it, even though we can't see it at the time.

That same evening was our last night at our friends house, so we decided to stay up late and enjoy their company.

Playing games and eating popcorn...

I took this picture 3 hours before we actually went to bed.

to them who are the called according to His purpose.
