June was an intense month for us! It included a graduation party, chicken chopping, a week of girls camp for Naomi, and then a very full five days of concerts for the family. Our concert engagements took us to Minneapolis/Saint Paul MN, Eau Clair WI, Des Moines IA, and Crivitz WI.
We didn't get nearly all the pictures we wanted of the month's activities, but we managed to get a few.
The second week into June found the four of us girls butchering chickens at our aunts place.
It was a full afternoon of some good old fashioned hard work.
Watch out! Someone has the knife!
Getting em all plucked clean.
Laurissa hard at work cutting up the chickens.
The middle of June found Naomi at a girls camp for a week.
If anyone's interested in seeing more pictures and reading about her time there, click HERE.
Amidst the craziness the girls, plus a friend of ours went kayaking down a nearby river.
The girls had fun picking, slicing, and freezing all these strawberries.
Naomi, hard at work getting them all sliced up and ready for the freezer.
After a few hours of slicing...
A tradition of ours would be to have strawberry shortcake for supper. Yup, just strawberry shortcake! What a treat!
Anybody want some???
Des Moines, Iowa
The Des Moines Family Festival was a fun couple of days for our family. Not only did we have each other to keep company with, but some good friends as well.
It was a pleasure to hear our friends play on stage!
On stage!
Hanging out together in the back listening to the other groups sing.
As you can see, we are absolutely having no fun at all. ;)
Towards the end of the festival a few members from several different groups came up and sang Beulah Land. It was beautiful!
Supper time around the table.
Saturday evening, after we finished singing at the festival, us plus the Paul family headed out to Crivitz, WI for a joint concert.
Walmart was our camping ground for the nights our families were together.
Early morning shopping for this crew.
It was great to be able to eat breakfast, have morning devotions, and just hang out in our friends bus.
Morning smiles.
Mama Herrlinger and Priscilla Paul.
Lucky Charms anyone???
Crivitz, Wisconsin
We arrived in Crivitz, WI Sunday afternoon.
All set up and ready to go!
In concert!
The Paul family!
Smiles from the guys.
We found this tank and thought, "Hey! That looks like the perfect place for a group photo!"
And of course the parents had to gross their children out by their smooching.
More shopping! And this time the whole gang invaded Walmart.
It was a sight to see! Two large families all laughing, talking, smiling, and just enjoying each others company. I think we got some funny stares from a few of the employees! Oh well... It was great!
The time was definitely one to remember for a lifetime!
Walking down the isles to get groceries.
Someone looks a little disgusted by these Lucky Charms...
The dads just being goofy.
Monday afternoon we left for home. We were about an hour down the road and we blew a tire. No big deal, right? We'll just stick the spare on. Well... Later, about an hour's drive from our house the other tire blew up. This time we were in trouble! We pulled our motorhome off the highway into a farmers driveway and there inspected the damage. The tire blew alright, and we were stuck!
Not sure what to do we talked to the farmer who lived there, and he said we could just leave our rig there for a few days while we look for new tires.
Some church friends kindly came to our rescue, picked us up, and drove us the rest of the way home. God was faithful!
The two bad tires.
Daddy putting the new ones on.
They are fixed!
All in all it was a very good trip, even though we blew two tires on our trip home. It was SO good to be able to spend those few precious days with dear friends. We feel very blessed!
"Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.
Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.
Sing unto him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise.
For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth."
Psalm 33:1-4
