Family Camp

Homeschool Family Camp

Last week you would have found our family in Lansing, Iowa at the Village Creek Homeschool Family Camp. It was such a huge blessing to be there this year! To see so many young people with their families dedicating their lives for Christ is almost overwhelming.
I apologize for this post being so late and for not blogging lately. As you all can imagine life has been a bit crazy around here lately.

The dinning hall!

Smiles.

 Tug-O-War!

You can do it!!!

Go Allison!

Time for the The Mighty Mighty Scoop Noodle Challenge!

Volley-ball!

On the last full day of camp everyone was present to watch the blindfolded kayak races.

Fathers gave directions while the sons were blindfolded. They eventually allowed daughters to do it also.

Whew... That was hard work!

I'm pretty sure that this was the highlight of the activities.

The blob!

Getting ready to leave for home...

One last picture before our departure.
Little people in a giant chair!

Lo, children are an inheritance of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Lake Itasca Family Music Festival

The first weekend in August our family had the privileged of singing at the Itasca Music Festival this year.
I'm sorry to say I don't have any pictures of us singing on stage, but I do have a few snapshots of other amazing families. It was such a great blessing to be there this year!

The Kingery family.

The Wissmann family.

The Johnson family.

 The Froemming family.

Saturday morning there was a miniature size tractor pull for kids ages 6-12.

The food line was extremely long Saturday evening!

The children liked to play in the sandbox.

Miranda and Allison with a friend.

I was standing over by the playground with my camera when I saw this cut little baby on her mothers back. She was staring at me with such big eyes, I couldn't help but take this picture.

And of course the cutest baby of all, my niece Leana.

Love at first sight, Curious George and Leana.

Lauriss enjoying her neice.

Praise ye the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul.
While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.

Goats and Gardening

Now that I finally have some time to sit down and write I will tell ya'll what we have been up to in the past several weeks.
Justin is working full time for a asphalt company. His working schedule varies. He can start driving anywhere from 10:30 p.m. to 10:30 a.m. and drives for about ten hours.
I think this year has been the busiest year of music for our family. Every weekend from now until sometime in September is full of music. In the past few weeks we have sang at a numerous amount of places, picked strawberries, got together with our friends from church, cleared out and fixed our pasture for goats.
That's right! GOATS!!! For all of you who know us are probably thinking "why on earth are the Herrliger's getting goats again"? "I thought they had to sell the goats in order to do music."
Well you can put yourselves at rest in knowing that these goats are not for milking, but for eating and cleaning up our small woods. We ended up buying three of them from our neighbors. Two kids and a mama.

Mama and her kid.

We had to take this kid from her mama.

We picked 15 buckets of strawberries!

This strawberry was one of the biggest we found!

Each month our church has a event that all of us families get together for an activity. It's usually playing games as a group, singing, sports, or just time visiting.
Last month we had more of a fun farm kind of a gathering.
There was corn husking, relay races, a egg toss, and singing at night around a campfire.

Floppy rubber boot races!

Gunny sack races!

Gotcha Kara!!!

Wheelbarrow races!

Chocolate milk contest!

Each person had a cup of chocolate milk. Whoever drank their's the fastest won the contest.

Egg toss!

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

Happy 12th birthday Allison!

Spring and a Trip to Canada

Spring is finally here!!! The past few weeks we have been busy tilling and planting the garden, cleaning up the flower gardens, and mowing the lawn.

 Tilling!

Planting!

And even more planting!

 And this is the result!

We also made a trip up to Canada to see our sister Andrea, and her family.

Pretty smiles.

Isn't she just a darling?

 So cute!

The aunties with our precious little niece.

O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

Little Animals & A Late Snow Fall

The girls brought these kittens and their mamma back from the farm one day. We didn't end up keeping them, but it was sure fun to have them around for a little while!

So tired!

This lamb needed a little extra bottle feeding, so Laurissa ended up bringing it home from the barn for a night.

\

Laurissa had to wake up two times during the night to feed it.

We were surprised by a late spring snow dump. Isn't it just crazy!?

Lots of snow!

"He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth."
Isaiah 53:7

We are Home!

God has been so faithful in providing our needs on this trip, that it leaves us feeling amazed at his faithfulness.
After 7 weeks of traveling we home at last!!! If anyone has ever been gone from home that long, you can imagine how wonderful that feeling is! :)
For the next week or so we will be busy cleaning the camper out, catching up on laundry, and packing away items that belong in the house.
